In my frank opinion, Safari is a viable solution for Apple devices because they are highly optimized for the OS X environment. Unfortunately, IE & Safari has very limited customization options, and limited extensions library, when compared to Firefox & Chrome. Internet Explorer is not the fastest, smartest, and performing browser when compared to Safari. Safari is an Apple creation and the official software development team worked around the browser for the performance boost. Is Safari the similar as Internet Explorer? Microsoft did not give up on the iconic solution, and you can learn about the security updates & software updates on Wikipedia. Internet Explorer is still receiving software updates in 2020, and the company is not giving up on the 1995 initiative. The Chromium-based browser is successfully installed in Mac OS X. However, I don’t recommend it because you are not sure whether it will convert into a daily driver or end up in the trash can.Ĭlick on “ Done” after you make the final decision on whether you want to sign-in or avoid for now.

Open-source libraries and frameworks are the life blood of a language. Let’s end our recap of the Swift ecosystem in 2022 with some brief highlights on libraries and package management. While not as portable as C or Java, Swift has quickly become accessible on a wide range of platforms. Check it out! For folks that like to tinker in the internet of things/microcontroller space you can run a paired down version of Swift on Arduino. Their website includes a playground that has a graphic user interface with an API identical to SwiftUI. But did you know that Swift has sneaked its way onto a few other platforms as well? A project called SwiftWasm allows you to compile Swift code into web assembly and run it directly in your browser. Technically, you can compile and run the standard library on Android, but as I’ll discuss later, there is zero library support, so you can’t really do much at this point. Of course excellent support is also provided for the rest of Apple’s fleet, which includes pads, mobile devices, watches, and TVs. In terms of cross-platform capabilities we have core language support for the three major desktop platforms: MacOS, Linux, and Windows. In fact, with the recent addition of async await which addresses concurrency at the language level, I am struggling to come up with a list of major features Swift still lacks. Swift’s standard library and Foundation provide a lot functionality right out-of-the box. I’m not going to waste your time listing all of the powerful features (generics, protocols, optionals, etc.) that you have come to know and love, but let me just say one or two things. There are a lot of important building blocks we have at our disposal in 2022, so let’s recap.Īs of this writing Swift is in version 5.6. The Swift ecosystem as I see it is composed of Swift the language, standard and core libraries (mostly from Apple at this point), proprietary libraries (also Apple, but others as well), open-source packages, and the on-line community. It may not match your own…and that’s okay:) The Swift Ecosystem In 2022 Keep that in mind as I share my vision and wish list for the Swift ecosystem. I often find myself using Python and it’s robust ecosystem as a model for comparison when I think about what I want from get-stuff-done language. My favorite workflow at the moment is a text editor paired with a read-evaluate-print-loop (REPL) on the command line. I love working in scripting languages like Python and R. I come from the field of medical informatics and machine learning. Each of us looks at the field of programming through a unique lens that is shaped by our training, work experience, and areas of expertise. We, as programmers, are an eclectic bunch. Wouldn’t it be nice to write complex apps and workflows end-to-end in Swift? Today I would like to talk briefly about Swift’s current ecosystem, some of the libraries and areas of support that I think are missing, and what Swift needs to become a contender as ‘the one language to rule them all’. The process and its organization feel clunky, messy, and my brain doesn’t appreciate the constant context switching. In one of my most recent mobile apps, BG Snapshot, I utilize shell scripts for low level file system tasks, Python for data munging and machine learning (ML), C++ for approximate nearest neighbors search, and Swift for building the final iOS App. Image rendered using NightCafe’s text-to-image AI using the phrase ‘ring inscribed with Swift’. Using an adapter kit, the LDM can also run pancake rolls, as long as they are less than 12 inches in diameter. The Accufast LDM handles rolls of 75,000 tabs in a convenient spool which simplifies handling. The small rolls run out and the large rolls are difficult to move and use. If you’re printing mid-sized mail runs, you’re stuck between using small (5,000 – 10,000) or large (40,000) rolls. The Accufast LDM is designed to help you solve two common problems with tab rolls. By adding the Accufast ET tabber to a paper folder and inkjet address printer, you can have a reliable and efficient mail production system. With just a twist of the control knob, you can switch modes to tabbing on the edge or top of a self-mailer. Self Mailers are simple with the Accufast ET tabber. Feed tabs from a box of fan folded tabs on the floor or through a large spool of tabs. With the Accufast ET tabber as a part of your mailroom equipment, you’ll be able to create booklets that meet the USPS regulations and your own specifications. Regulations dictate that you need at least 2 and sometimes 3 1.5 inch tabs in order to keep the booklet closed. According to the USPS, a booklet is any folded mailer with a spine and a spine-closing device (like glue or staples). If booklets are what you need, completed booklets are what the Accufast ET Tabber can provide. The health bonus doubling seems nice at first but shortly you'll be getting 100 health from a run with it and the +14 your worried about will be a rounding error. I'm not sure if actually getting past the wolf pack fight is worth skipping it. It's quicker later, the thing is spending 1 minute makes your base bleed bigger so your food can't keep up as much. Hopefully in later runs it doesn't take as long since I've grinded the levels out.Īll ice cream is now for all beings, no matter how many legs. I figure the double HP will make the fight doable and make my runs last longer so I think it's worth the time for now. It only takes a minute or two so it's not too bad. I do the party because it really boosts the social levels and also the double HP is nice. Pixaal fucked around with this message at 19:37 on Oct 29, 2021 (I switched to include it and feel it was time when there's another option in a fight to talk your way out of it) Social levels might go a long way I did it a few times before deciding to grind it later myself. Not that going to the party is bad, it speeds up that long time in town talking to people. You want 20 of everything from the chapter, at that point I'd cut out berries and apples I think from chapter 1. Grind up as much food as you can, if it's not automated when your health gets low be sure to craft more during the fight. The double health might not be worth all that time until you can get a bit further in that chapter. Slamming your face into a problem generally resolves it. I'm doing the forest party every time to get the double health bonus. Is there something specific I should be doing or am I on the right path?Įdit: Basically I'm letting automation do its thing until I get to the point where I'm hunting boars and then fighting the wolf pack until I die. Right now I'm just grinding up my skills and getting automations because there's no way I can take on the wolf pack. Of course it's possible to brute force everything if you just run all the same automations every single time, but you're gonna be stuck at a 1-2 instinct level gain per run on most skills when you could have gotten 4-10 instinct levels on lots of them had you chosen differently based on your specific place in the curves. Late chapter 2 starts to give pretty significant choices on how you solve problems, and how you choose to solve them should be changing a little bit based on what you're trying to accomplish with a run. You can do a similar optimization much later on when certain aspects of certain chapters become trivial. When you're no longer at any risk of dying while building the first 2 huts you can set the critical path and the huts themselves to top priority and wait to pick berries later. It's pretty much always worth it to stock lower level food, but the curve changes for when you should be doing it. It really depends on your specific instinct levels and which wall you're running up against late game. Hm i'm curious how true that is, since you could be doing those actions later under lower hp drain with later huts, and more percentage boosts from items. Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne adds a host of new features to the game, including four new campaigns that take you across the frozen continent of Northrend. Riot issued an apology for this, and promised to approach the topic with more tact in the future. This behavior was deemed inappropriate by many fans who saw it as a corporate ploy. This was a quaint marketing campaign, but it went sour when Seraphine began to Tweet about anxiety and mental health issues. "Seraphine" would regularly share tweets chronicling her career as an indie musician. In order to market the new champion, Riot set her up with a real life social media presence maintained by a staff of writers. League of Legends has had its fair share of controversy in 2020, most notably through the introduction of its new character Seraphine. Though that isn't to say it's all been smooth sailing. Riot has been furnishing it with a steady stream of new characters and content, and this seems to have paid off in a big way the League of Legends community was the single most active gaming community on Reddit this year, for instance. The iconic MOBA is still going strong, 11 years after it first released. Hopefully, more news is set to follow from Riot in the months ahead. An official League of Legends MMO is on the way, helmed by Greg Street, former lead designer of World of Warcraft. Most champions have a unique kit made up of five abilities: a Passive, three Basics, and an Ultimate. Figuring out the optimal ability order, summoner spells, and item build for your champion will help you succeed as a team. The Mageseeker stars Demacian rebel Sylas and is described as a gritty 2D hi-bit pixel. Champions have five core abilities, two special spells, and up to seven items at a time. She says in her response to Street, "greg don't just TELL them outright omg." As funny as that is, odds are Street's confirmation of Riot's MMO is gone through layers of approval. On Wednesday, Riot Forge announced a new title coming soon: The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story. One of the top replies to Street's confirmation of a Riot-made MMO comes from Riot's Marketing Creative Director, Moosey. That seems unlikely, but, again, this isn't an official press release or anything. There's a possibility that Street's confusing the issue and it's an MMO based on something else entirely. Street says he's been working to develop the League universe and is now working to kick off this MMO project. To be clear, the MMO that Riot is working in is clearly insinuated to be based in the League of Legends universe. That may be why it's so willing to share the news, now that it's moving into a new phase of development. Just under a year ago, Riot founder Marc Merill responded to a question about a potential MMO by saying that, if Riot were to make one, it wouldn't be "any time soon." It's possible that even then, Riot was laying the groundwork for making an MMO. Supporting that thought is the fact that fans truly have been clamoring for Riot Games to make an MMO. "Massive" rather directly implies an MMO, after all. Obviously, that's not so subtle in the first place. Specifically, his job is now to "kick off a big (some might say massive) game." He also characterizes it as a highly anticipated project both at Riot and in the League of Legends fandom. He says that his job at Riot has been to develop the League of Legends universe, but that he's moved into a new role. RELATED: Ruined King: A League of Legends Story Delayedįor added context, Street started revealing some news on Twitter. Street's nonchalant response was, simply put, "It is an MMO." That doesn't leave much room for confusion. While talking about a new project currently in development, Street was asked if the project was an MMO. An official MMO developed by Riot Games was confirmed via a Twitter reply from VP of IP and Entertainment Greg Street, better known as Ghostcrawler. Considering the scale of such an announcement, one might expect a press event and a trailer.
